Changes in the management of AS “Latvijas Finieris”

In order to strengthen the group's expertise in strategically important areas, changes were made to the management of AS “Latvijas Finieris” in May 2025.

Strategic governance

On matters of sustainable land use and the availability of timber resources, former board member Indulis Kovisārs has joined the existing members of the supervisory board. His professional experience in the forestry sector, as well as his many years leading the group's Forest Sector team, securing timber resources for the long term and his work with the Latvijas Kokrūpniecības federācija, will make a substantial contribution to the company's strategic direction.

“In the coming years, the role of land use and the availability of timber resources will grow considerably. This will require bold decisions not only at group level, but at national level as well,” says I. Kovisārs.

The supervisory board of AS “Latvijas Finieris” has four members: Uldis Biķis, Jānis Staris, Juris Matvejs, Indulis Kovisārs.

Changes to the management board

Given that Indulis Kovisārs has stepped down as a member of the management board, the supervisory board of AS “Latvijas Finieris” has elected Artis Podnieks, until now director of the Birch Timber Supply Service, as the new board member.

“One of the greatest future challenges in the forestry sector will be the sustainable availability of resources and the diversification of the risks associated with it. That will call for both strategic adaptation and bold action in introducing new approaches. I see great potential in the development of data and digital technologies – it is precisely this that will allow us to make even more accurate decisions, make our processes more efficient and strengthen sustainable operations,” emphasises A. Podnieks.

The management board of AS “Latvijas Finieris” is made up as follows: Jānis Ciems, Pauls Ābele, Gunita Meiere, Mārtiņš Lācis, Māris Būmanis, Aigars Veitmans, Artis Podnieks.
