Bangladesh's floating gardens

Bangladesh. A country located on the plains of the Ganges and Brahmaputra confluence and their shared delta. It is prone to flooding and sudden changes in water levels. Heavy rainfall, snowmelt in the Himalayas, and severe cyclones regularly exacerbate the country's problems. 2/3 of Bangladesh's territory consists of wetlands, criss-crossed by a very dense network of rivers. The rivers frequently change their course. In Bangladesh, large areas of land are covered by water for at least 8 months of the year, and, furthermore, encroaching sea (ocean) water makes a significant portion of the coastline unsuitable for agriculture and crop cultivation.
