Aviation fuel synthesised from Ethiopian mustard. Is it possible?

After four years of work, researchers have found (created) a new type of plant-based aviation fuel that significantly reduces the environmental impact of flights. This fuel, which can reduce carbon emissions by as much as 68%, can be synthesised from a plant in the brassica family known as Ethiopian mustard (Brassica carinata), according to a study conducted at the University of Georgia, USA (University of Georgia, USA). It demonstrates that this type of sustainable aviation fuel (sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)) could become a game-changer, replacing or substituting for petroleum.
