The “European Tree of the Year in Latvia” competition has been held in Latvia since 2021, in order to identify and get to know trees with captivating stories, with impressive and not so impressive dimensions and – above all – a significant place in recognising and preserving our cultural and historical heritage and our natural treasures.

In the course of the National Forest Monitoring, 6 675 600 290 trees have been counted in Latvia – something we can be proud of!

We would like to remind and stress to everyone interested: in this competition, the tree and its story matter equally.

We invite you to send in information about the tree and the tree's story by 30 September.
