In early October, in three locations—the forests of Valdgale parish, and the vicinity of Murjāņi and Straupe—an environmental expert from AS “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) managed to find a beetle species rarely recorded in Latvia: the violet fungus beetle (Platydema violaceum). These instances represent the seventh, eighth and ninth records in Latvia in the last 100 years.
