“Anyone who in the future identifies with Greta in any way, in my view, is a supporter of terrorism,” emphasised the Israeli army spokesperson.
On 20 October, the Israeli military forces took aim at the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg (Greta Thunberg) in connection with her pro-Palestinian message and her support for a comment stating that a “genocide” is being carried out in Gaza.
G. Thunberg has stated that “the world needs to speak up and call for an immediate ceasefire, justice and freedom for Palestinians and all affected civilians” as the war between Israel and Hamas escalates and threatens to become a regional conflict. On her Instagram account, she also shared a post from a German pro-Palestinian account which claimed that a “genocide” is taking place in Gaza.

Israeli army spokesperson Arye Sharuz Shalicar told the news outlet POLITICO: “Anyone who in the future identifies with Greta in any way, in my view, is a supporter of terrorism,” adding that: “what Greta does, by showing solidarity with the Gaza Strip while not saying a word about the massacres in Israel, shows that she is not actually supporting the Palestinians, but rather sweeping the terror of the Palestinians, or Hamas and Islamic Jihad, under the carpet as if it were not there.”
Arye Sharuz Shalicar later apologised for his remarks regarding G. Thunberg’s supporters, saying: “I was speaking out of deep pain, my words do not reflect my personal views or those of the IDF.”
