Help us purchase a carriage that could be transformed into another excursion carriage or even a mobile sleeping accommodation.

 

That is how life goes – the most unexpected discoveries are often right under your nose. In 2017, quite by chance, we stumbled upon a narrow-gauge passenger carriage sitting in an industrial zone in the Acone, Rīga TEC2 area.

 

The carriage served as a changing room and utility space for sawmill workers, as well as for a watchman who lived in it. Appropriate interior modifications had been made – one of the vestibules was expanded into a bedroom, while in the main cabin, the windows on one side were covered with wooden panelling to allow for the attachment of furniture, coat hooks, and so on. Behind this panelling, the old windows remain intact with their original bakelite trim frames, which we were delighted to see when inspecting the carriage from the outside. A number of the original bakelite ventilation deflectors are also still visible.

 

Inside the carriage, there was a sense of order and cleanliness that was perhaps untypical for a worker's utility space!

 

As the carriage was in active use, we agreed with the owners that we would be in touch if the situation changed. In the meantime, the company has relocated to different premises, although the carriage has been diligently serving its purpose until quite recently.

 

Now, right NOW, the moment has come when the carriage's owner is prepared to part with it for a fair price!

 

Our most active followers will already know – we are a museum railway established and maintained by enthusiasts! Everything we invest in repairing the railway and expanding our collection is either earned through our excursions or gathered through donations, while we work for free – as volunteers!
