As part of the informal initiative "Ziemeļu valrieksts" (Northern Walnut), a search is underway for productive common or Persian walnut (Juglans regia) trees growing in Latvia.

Currently, there is great interest in walnut cultivation on both shores of the Baltic Sea. Latvia has a very interesting collection of walnuts from various former Soviet republics, as well as locally sourced walnuts from G. Vēsmiņš's farm.

We would like to collect a small number of nuts from productive trees for further propagation. If possible, we would also like to learn about the origin and yield of the trees. Some of the nuts will remain in Latvia, and some will "travel" to Finland and Sweden.
