A wave of demand arrives, timber prices rise

With hopes for the end of the pandemic, prices on global commodity exchanges have risen for almost everything. Moreover, in many cases, the price increase has been quite impressive. One such item has been timber.

For example, on the US commodity exchange, its value from March last year, when it became clear that the Covid-19 virus would be a global phenomenon, until the end of the first week of this month, had jumped by a full 540%.

Sometimes, however, large rises are followed by falls, and within two weeks, the US timber price has already dropped by a quarter since that point. It is perhaps fair to say that a certain amount of deflation and the cooling of hot heads for the sake of general stability is even necessary for some commodity markets. The bigger the bubble, the more painful its inevitable bursting will be.
