The Road Transport Administration has announced a tender for the purchase of nine new battery electric trains, the administration reported. The new trains will be delivered by the end of 2026 and will operate on the Bolderāja–Sigulda line.
Information regarding the first stage of the tender has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. Candidates may submit their applications until 31 May 2022.
The first stage of the procurement process aims to select candidates capable of ensuring the supply of nine new battery-powered trains. Meanwhile, detailed negotiations regarding the tender price and other conditions that may affect the delivery of the trains will take place in the second stage of the procurement for the supply of new battery electric trains. It is planned that the second stage of the tender will be announced in the autumn.
