No matter how hot the summer gets, many people would be afraid or refrain from swimming in the Seine, the Thames or the Spree, rivers that flow through European capitals. Large European cities are doing everything they can to prevent untreated sewage from entering their major waterways. The changing climate has made the situation worse. A new, EU-funded project is studying the situation to understand what is happening and what needs to be done.
