On Wednesday, 9 March, regulations came into force providing for financial support to private individuals through a competitive process to transition from fossil fuel heating to sustainable heating methods and for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources.

• The aim of the competition is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency in households by supporting the purchase and installation of heat or electricity generation equipment in residential houses.
• The total funding available is €20 million, with a maximum support of up to €15,000 per project. The maximum support intensity will not exceed 70% of the project costs.
• The project applicant must be a natural person who has established ownership rights to a residential house or part thereof in the Land Register.
• The regulations provide that, within the framework of the competition, the project applicant may receive support if no economic activity is being carried out in the residential house.
• Support will be provided for the purchase of heat or electricity generation equipment for residential houses to ensure the production and supply of heat or electricity from renewable energy sources solely for the household's own consumption.
