“Last year, we offered a standardised design for the construction of reinforced concrete apartment buildings. Twelve municipalities confirmed that they plan to use it for the construction of low-rent housing, and I hope that soon we will be able to see such buildings appearing in various Latvian towns. At the same time, my priority as Minister of Economics is to develop timber construction in Latvia, using local building materials for this purpose. Last year, we signed a memorandum of cooperation with the construction industry, the non-governmental sector, and state-owned enterprises to promote the more active use of timber building materials in construction. Therefore, we have taken the next step and this year we are offering a standardised design for the construction of a timber apartment building.” (...)
