Work on the largest solar park in the Zemgale region was completed in May; as part of the project, 708 solar panels were installed on the ground and on the roof of the SIA “M.P. Socks” facility, with a total system capacity of 262 kW. Over the course of a year, the solar panels will generate 258,000 kWh of green electricity, which is ~32% of the factory's total annual electricity consumption. It is expected that over the next 10 years, “M.P. Socks” will save 239,000 euros in electricity costs, and 729.6 tonnes of CO2 emissions will be prevented from entering the atmosphere.

“M.P. Socks” is a Danish company specialising in the production of high-quality socks and tights. In 2009, “M.P. Socks” began relocating its production facility from Denmark to Durbe in the Smārde parish, creating more than 80 new jobs.
