A birch bark craftsman is inquiring about the possibility of collecting birch bark.
Harvesters are increasingly being used in felling areas, leaving no bark behind; the bark is also damaged during extraction from the forest and the transport of timber, making it ever harder to source at sawmills.
Would it be possible to reach an agreement: if anyone is planning to fell birch trees between the beginning of June and the end of July, please allow the opportunity to collect the bark a couple of days before the harvester arrives, or from felled trees before they are transported from the forest. It will help the craftsman and will not harm the owner, as bark is not used in the timber industry. A significant souvenir from the "bark collector"...
