We are an export-capable green economy sector that already brings money into the entire Latvian economy. We are not whining, we are not asking for subsidies; the only thing we want is clear long-term regulations from our biggest cooperation partner so that we can confidently plan our future investments, production facility development and jobs. The specifics of our segment are such that in the production of packaging category products, it is impossible to use high-capacity production technologies that would compensate for staff layoffs. In this segment, high added value cannot be created through technology alone. Such technologies simply do not exist anywhere in the world, which means that the production of wooden packaging products will always involve a relatively high human resource factor, and there will always be jobs where remuneration will continue to increase more rapidly than in other sectors on average.
