Dear “Latvijas valsts meži”!

 

On Sunday, we drove for a short stretch along a road managed by you (Šmiukšu dambis) in Ziemupe forest.

The road maintenance work is truly impressive. It has been covered with good gravel, raised by half a metre in places, levelled, and thoroughly compacted with a road roller. In my opinion, even before the restoration, that stretch of road was much better than the main road managed by “Latvijas valsts ceļi”.

We had the idea of asking you to take the “Latvijas valsts ceļi” section V1190 Ziemupe – Vērgale into your care. It runs through your forest territory anyway, and there is no other way to get to Ziemupe!

If it should happen that the name of our village, Ziemupe, does not fit your concept, we are willing to rename ourselves to Egļupe or Priežupe—heck, you can even call us Sūnu ciems—but please take our road into your care as well!

At times it seems that in our country, people no longer know how to maintain white gravel roads, but looking at LVM roads, it is clear that they do know how; it is just that our roads do not have the right owners... even though it is the same country.
