Scientific work in Ghana, The Gambia and Indonesia demonstrates how an integrated landscape approach (ILA) can be used to resolve conflicts caused by differing views on land use. ILA provides an excellent opportunity for local entrepreneurs (producers) and residents to participate fully and meaningfully in decision-making regarding the sustainable use of land and natural resources.
The above is one of the core principles included in the book Operationalizing Integrated Landscape Approaches in the Tropics. The book documents the initial results of the study. The research published in the book emphasises the need for evidence-based and research-backed monitoring.
