During a joint expedition in Myanmar, researchers from Frankfurt and Yangon (Burma) studying mud snakes (family Homalopsidae) discovered a new reptile. They were fortunate to encounter four specimens with very short tails in a swampy area near the university city of Thanlyin in Myanmar. The researchers were unable to classify these snakes or determine their affiliation with any previously known family of mud snakes.
