A significant part of the project activities is dedicated to the management of protected avenues. In total, Latvia has 62 protected tree avenues with cultural, historical and ecological value. Many of the trees in these avenues are over 100 years old. "Over the coming years, we plan to shape and maintain the tree crowns in 13 avenues, in order to help extend their lifespan and preserve the landscape value of these old trees."

We have often heard of cases where avenues beloved by residents are cut down in the dead of night, for instance in the name of road safety or for greedy motives. In this case, the old avenues will be cared for. Therefore, it can be concluded that unlike the previous Nature Census project, where the only material beneficiaries were researchers and other project administrators, in this new project, the winners will be nature, the environment and, through them, the wider public.
