Latvian hydrobiologist Andris Andrušaitis, who works in Finland, has received an award from the Åland-based Baltic Sea Fund, as well as a 10,000 euro prize for his contribution to Baltic Sea research.

Environmental protection matters are coordinated by the Helsinki Commission for the protection of the marine environment of the Baltic Sea, which has concluded that we have managed to create a globally unique model of cooperation, as we research and provide answers to the research questions necessary for environmental protection in the Baltic Sea, while the Helsinki Commission, in turn, strives to implement these scientifically sound recommendations. The Baltic Sea Fund has decided to award this prize to me and my colleague.
