A detailed account of an electric car test drive – a pointless journey to Latvia's eco-city for electricity!

It all started promisingly. A full car battery suggested that a beautiful and enjoyable journey of a whole 276 kilometres awaited us. You can only set off on such a long trip early in the morning, so the whole long day is ours and ours alone! Therefore, the biggest challenge of the first day was getting from point A to point B. Even though the distance between the two points was a mere 34 kilometres, by the time we reached our destination, the energy reserve was only enough for 168 kilometres. Thus, 34 kilometres demanded the energy expected for 108 kilometres. Regardless, the first trip ended successfully – we reached our destination.

The next day, the starting gun went off and the electric car ventured out into the wide world, only to pull into Jūrmala, Latvia's most ecologically green city, after 58 kilometres! A city where you have to pay money for spoiling the air. For now, only during the summer season, but hope dies last and who knows, perhaps in the future it will be all year round. It is only logical that an electric car is the mode of transport that would be welcomed in such a crystal-clear city more than any other vehicle. And if the fresh air of Jūrmala actually costs money, then everything here should be prepared to the highest standards for visits from electric cars!
