The Administration of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund (Fund Administration), in accordance with the decision of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund Council meeting No. 7 of 28 July 2023, announces a project competition under the activity "Cooperation projects for environmental policy development and implementation" with the aim of providing financial support for public awareness projects in the media to create socially significant, informative and educational content, promoting the target audience's understanding of the importance of the environment and/or nature conservation in a healthy ecosystem and changing daily habits.

Within the framework of the competition, funding will be provided for projects that involve thematically unified informative and educational activities in the mass media on the topics specified in the competition, with the aim of promoting changes in the lifestyle habits of specific target audience groups.

The project applicant (lead implementer) may be a legal or natural person registered in the Republic of Latvia who is the owner of national mass media (the primary target audience is all of Latvia) that creates editorially independent journalistic content, in compliance with the requirements set out in the Law "On the Press and Other Mass Media", or independent producers (legal entities), associations and foundations whose activities are aimed at the creation of journalistic material.

The deadline for the submission of project applications is set for 25 August 2023.

The total funding available from Fund resources for the implementation of projects in the competition is €700,000. The regulations also set the maximum Fund financing for a single project on one media platform. A self-contribution of at least 10% of the total eligible project costs must be provided for the implementation of the project.

The implementation of the project must begin no later than 1 October 2023, and all project activities must be completed by 31 May 2024.
