The company, which simultaneously illegally cut down a significant number of trees while carrying out site clearance works, was required to compensate for the damages caused – in the amount of 17,042.59 euros,” says D. For tree felling within the territory of Liepāja city, a special permit is required, which is issued in specific cases if trees are dead, diseased, endanger residents' property, or if it is impossible to preserve the trees in accordance with planned construction, etc.

In accordance with regulatory acts, for the felling of individual trees in public places, it is necessary to hear the public's opinion by organising a public consultation.
